The 2022 NJCL Convention, which was held at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, was a Ragin' success! The FSCL had 50 members in attendance who helped run That's Entertainment, Ludi, registration, and more! We also had a wonderful booth at the agora where we sold shirts, name tag decorating, stickers, and even had a scansion competition! Grace Weston, FSCL President and NSCL Vice President, was elected 2022-2023 NSCL Parliamentarian, and Skyler McLeod, NSCL Historian, became a member of the NSCL Website Committee! Overall, the FSCL came to nationals in full force and we can't wait to do it all again next year!
April 7-9, 2022 FJCL State Forum @ Wyndham Orlando Resort
A lot of fun was had at State Forum this year! Rachael Cox chaired ludi and olympika, with FSCL running and managing; we hosted That's Entertainment with Skyler McLeod chaired; "The Lore," the FSCL's version of "The Convention Ear" launched, edited by Laci Lisenby; Megan Casey chaired Open Certamen; and we ran General Assemblies and elected a new board!
November 2021 FJCL Fall Forum @ Home Virtual
Although the FJCL Fall Forum may have been virtual, that did not stop the FSCL from promoting our organization and aiding in running events! We moderated Discord channels, helped run various games including a PowerPoint contest, and hosted a slasher mixer!
October 23rd , 2020 FSCL Halloween Party @ via Zoom
The FSCL hosted a virtual meetup for the most spookiest time of year! Any and all were invited and costumes were heavily encouraged. The night began with a dinner featuring charcuterie boards which everyone shared what they had made. After dinner we had a blast playing some good ol' Halloween Kahoot which was a hauntingly good time. What's Halloween without pumpkins? We also did a virtual pumpkin decorating too where people could decorate real pumpkins or digital ones as well. We ended the night with the hit game Among Us where we didn't know who to trust and who was the imposter!
July 24th-29th, 2020 NJCL National Convention @ Home Virtual Convention via Zoom
Since the COVID-19 Pandemic has swept across the world, National Convention was held online for the first time also! Through a combination of Discord, Sched, Zoom, and Slack, the FSCL, NSCL, and JCL came together to put on an enjoy Nationals. Highlights for the FSCL included our own President Racheal Cox to be elected as the NSCL Vice President and our Tech Coordinator Kristian Jackson was appointed to the NSCL Web Committee for the next 2 years and will currently serve as their current State Chapter Liaison. The FSCL even hosted their own Fellowship with many other states were JCLers and SCLers could come together and go over their festivities of the day. The FSCL also got to help filming hilarious skits for That's Entertainment and writing articles for the Ear! We were saddened that Nationals could not be held in person but we will hold out hope for next year!
April 4th, 2020 Annual FSCL Meeting @ Home Virtual Florida State Forum Elections
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the US along with the increase of its spread and case numbers in Florida, the 2020 State Convention was canceled. Even though the State convention was canceled, the FSCL board pulled together to come up with a plan to hold our annual meeting and elections virtually via Google Meets. We would also implement a new way for people to join the FSCL virtually by creating a digital membership form as well as a Venmo to collect payments as well. We would elect the 2020-2021 board at this meeting and now have plans in place on possible virtual events in the future.
November 23rd, 2019 Fall Forum @ Winter Springs High School
The 2019 Officers attended the Fall Forum at Winter Springs High School with 2019 SCL Advisor Kyle Grimsey. Upon arrival to the Forum we set up an area where atendees were encoruaged to create their own name badges that they could decorate. We also set up games for ludi, quattuor square was a favorite among the FJCLers. We even held a meeting where rising slasher (seniors in the FJCL) could get information on the FSCL for when they would attend State Forum. We actually would meet the now current Historian Grace Weston which made it ever so more exciting and eventful!
2019 National JCL Convention @ North Dakota State University July 26-31, 2019
Florida had 6 SCLers attend the 2019 Nationals and it was a hoot and a half. Rachael Cox served as soccer shadow chair, Skyler Mcleod served as That’s Entertainment shadow chair, and Savannah France served as 2018-2019 NSCL Parliamentarian and was appointed the 2019-2020 NSCL Historian. All the FSCLers in attendance worked to make a great convention for JCLers whether it was helping with olympika, working on That’s Entertainment, or writing articles for the Convention Ear. We are all looking forward to making next year's convention just as amazing!
